TPI notes:

The company has set targets to reduce its absolute emissions. To calculate this company’s targeted emissions intensity, TPI has assumed that: The company’s aluminium production grows according to the global growth rate projected in the IEA’s Energy Technology Perspectives model Reference Technology scenario. The company has also set a company-wide target for 2025 but it could not be included in this assessment as it is unclear how it will affect emissions from the company's aluminium segment specifically. TPI has incorporated the 2030 target making the conservative assumption that the company will first exhaust non-aluminium mitigation options and will mitigate 5.2 Mt from its aluminium smelting activities (2021 Climate Change Report p.18). The 2050 net zero target has been accepted for the company’s assessment. When interpreting TPI Carbon Performance data, it is important to bear in mind that climate science shows temperature change is proportional to cumulative absolute CO2 emissions.
