This report evaluates how major global banks are progressing towards net zero alignment and the goals of the Paris Agreement. Using the TPI Centre’s Net Zero Banking Assessment Framework (NZBAF), the report benchmarks banks across key indicators to assess their role in financing the transition to a low-carbon economy.

The analysis covers 26 of the world’s largest banks and assesses performance across areas such as net zero commitments, emissions disclosure, decarbonisation strategy, climate governance and financing of climate solutions. While the report finds growing momentum in target setting and climate commitments, it also highlights significant gaps - particularly in disclosure, coverage of financed emissions, and alignment of targets with 1.5°C pathways.

Overall, the report provides an evidence-based benchmark of the banking sector’s progress and identifies key areas for improvement, helping investors understand how effectively banks are integrating climate considerations into their strategies and supporting the transition to a net zero financial system.
