Today, the TPI Global Climate Transition Centre (TPI Centre) at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) launches a public consultation to gather user feedback on the design of its banking tool and proposed methodological changes. The tool assesses banks and tracks their progress in the transition to a low-carbon economy. We are seeking feedback primarily from investors, banks, multilateral banks and international financial institutions.

The TPI Centre is an independent source of rigorous research and assessments that are based on publicly available information disclosed by assessed entities.

To ensure that the Net Zero Banking Assessment Framework (NZBAF) and the Carbon Performance for Banks methodology remain relevant, they may be reviewed and updated periodically. The Centre operates independently. However, we undertake consultations to share proposed approaches and gather views on potential amendments, when material.

We invite all relevant stakeholders to take part in this new consultation, which runs until 31 January 2026.

  1. Read the Banking tool - 2025 consultation report, which provides a description of proposed tool design and methodological changes to the banking tool.
  2. Refer to the updated NZBAF v1.1 - methodology note and the Carbon Performance for Banks v1.0 – methodology note while completing the consultation survey.
  3. Complete the consultation survey and submit your feedback by 31 January 2026.

Please note, this consultation has now closed
