Over the five years in which the Transition Pathway Initiative Centre (TPI Centre) has been assessing oil and gas companies against different climate scenarios, we have increased the number of companies assessed and refined the tools we use to assess them. This webinar provided insights into TPI’s Oil and Gas Carbon Performance methodology. Insights from the latest Carbon Performance assessment cycle were shared, offering a snapshot of the current state of decarbonisation within the oil and gas sector and its commitments to cutting emissions.
As well as our Carbon Performance results, findings were also presented from the first iteration of the Net Zero Standard for Oil and Gas, developed by the Institutional Investors Group on Climate Change (IIGCC) with support from the TPI Centre. These standards address investors’ growing demand for more in-depth information on how companies are approaching the transition. A greater focus on strategy and capital expenditure has enabled us to understand company planning more holistically than ever before. The webinar explored transition planning within the oil and gas sector, with insights from investor networks on the use case of this data and from investors into their engagement efforts in the sector.
